Sometimes polymer just isn't good enough, especially if you're a die-hard shooting enthusiast. It is for these shooters that we developed an aluminum alternative to the standard 90/22 polymer barrel shroud. Shot blasted and hardcoat anodized, these shrouds are CNC lathe turned from aluminum and designed to pair perfectly with our 90/22 bullpup stock. If using with OEM Ruger 10/22 tapered barrels, the 1/2-28 threads necessary to attach the shroud are furnished by a nitride treated adapter, which locks onto the muzzle with two set screws and a spring pin. Both the aluminum shroud and steel thread adapter are offered together as a set specifically for Ruger brand barrels with front sights (requires front sight removal).

The threaded adapter can also be ordered separately for customers looking to install shrouds or flash cans from other manufacturers on their OEM barrels. Likewise, the aluminum shrouds are available separately for customers with 1/2x28 threaded barrels who do not need the adapter to mount a shroud to their muzzle. Our shroud is available in two sizes for different applications. We recommend laying out your firearm's dimensions before you purchase to ensure you order the proper length shroud.

The 6 1/8" length shroud is intended for 90/22 users who have barrels that are already threaded and at least 18" long. This shroud is short enough to allow the threads to directly engage at the muzzle when installed with the 90/22. Approximately 5 7/8" of barrel will be covered by this size shroud, which is the distance between the front face of the 90/22 and the muzzle of 18" barrels.

The 7 3/8" length shroud is the same one included in the thread adapter combo kit for standard Ruger barrels. It's long enough to fit over an 18.5" barrel with the thread adapter installed and still reach the front face of the 90/22. Due to this extra length, it can also be used on threaded barrels 19.25" and over in length. Threaded barrels shorter than 19.25" will not work with this shroud, as the shroud will stop against the front of the 90/22 before the threads make contact at the muzzle. This length covers about 7 1/8" of barrel from the muzzle backward.

Both shrouds are approximately 1 3/8" in diameter and can accept .920" bull barrels. Beyond just the 90/22, these can also be used with many different styles of builds, such as with our MBS 22 or as a display piece on other rifles.

Note: This product requires the factory front post sight be removed from the barrel prior to installation. Depending on the customer's experience and equipment, a gunsmith may be recommended.

Needed lots of hand fitting

I had high hopes for this kit, as it appears to greatly enhance the look and feel of the 90/22 stock kit (over the standard plastic shroud). However, out of the bag from the factory, it was obvious that the adapter would not easily fit over the factory 10/22 front sight band. I had to remove a fair amount of metal from the inside of the adapter to finally make it fit. Even then, it's fair to say that it is now a permanent installation, as the adapter is so tight it may never come off. In the end, I still like the look and feel, but the adapter tolerances should be a bit more open to make installation easier. [ HTA Response: Hello Eric and thank you for your business! Very sorry there was an issue with the fitment of the adapter. We were recently made aware of some changes Ruger has seemingly made with their barrel tolerances. We have offered this product for several years without issue, but in the past few weeks, we have been hearing similar stories. We are in the process of remaking the adapters with looser tolerances based on customer input and data on the size of their front sight post. All adapters sold after 1/1/2022 will be the updated design, reflecting changes we've seen made by Ruger. Do it!

the fake suppressor that comes standard makes the whole stock just feel/look off (too big and plastic) just go with out it... OR... UPGRADE TO THE ALUMINUM ONE!!!!! It makes the whole setup! its smaller in diameter and securely attached. it makes for a very realistic appearance. just make sure the set screws are tightened enough to clear the side of the adapter, really small clearances and it will catch if you don't have it all the way in.

Makes the device 100x better looking

Front sight was a bit hard to get out but once you get it out it’s pretty much straight forward. Install was simple. Aluminum shroud makes it look 100x better and more authentic (compared to my real PS90). Thank you Andy + HTA for the great products!

SWEET

Oh man...lol. I have to bother you one more time about this shroud. SWEET is all I can say. What a difference. I'm a bit of a purist(?). The difference in this and the plastic one is just great!!! I love it man, thanks again for a great company with great products and great customer service.
