Seamlessly integrating with the Ruger® 10/22® and 10/22 Takedown® series of rifles, the MBS 22 Mod 1 from High Tower Armory is far from just another bullpup conversion. The MBS 22 Mod 1 retains all of the benefits bullpups are known for, like compactness and balance, while dramatically mitigating the drawbacks of other designs, such as poor trigger performance, cumbersome ergonomics, and complex disassembly steps. Moreover, it also combines the utility of many other accessories, like a left side charging handle, quick release bolt lock, and M-LOK® handguard, into one system. The MBS 22 Mod 1 shares many of the same great features of the standard MBS 22 but provides shooters with an additional 2" to the length of pull, thanks to a quick deploying collapsible stock module, making it a great option for left-handed or larger shooters.
By deviating from the typical left and right clamshell design, our Modular Bullpup System eliminates the nuts and bolts inherent to other conversions and allows the rifle to be field stripped in a matter of seconds. Removing three pins and the factory takedown screw is all it takes to separate the 10/22's receiver and trigger assembly from the MBS 22. Optics and accessories mounted to the MBS 22's picatinny rails and M-LOK slots can even be left in place to help maintain zero.
Another feature of the MBS 22 that sets it apart from the competition is the trigger linkage. Our dual arm linkage is made from nitride treated steel for maximum corrosion resistance and rigidity. Uniquely, it can be set up with either a "Direct" or "Cammed" trigger linkage system. The Cammed Trigger Linkage actually reduces the perceived weight of the factory trigger from about 5 pounds to around 3.5 pounds with absolutely no modification to the OEM fire control components. The Direct Pull Linkage works like a more traditional bullpup linkage, transferring energy in a smooth, linear motion to ensure crisp breaks and quick resets. The trigger linkage can be adjusted for both take-up and overtravel and even the spring weight of the MBS 22's trigger linkage can be adjusted for unparalleled trigger customization among bullpup conversions.
In the MBS 22's Mod 1 lightest configuration (deflector, knuckle guard, and accessories removed), the complete rifle weighs only slightly more than a 10/22 in the typical OEM configuration, or about 5.5 pounds. At only 26.25" long with a 16.1" barrel and the stock extended, the MBS 22 Mod 1 is as compact as an SBR without the tax stamp and better balanced than a traditional rifle, allowing for effortless one-handed shooting. Bull barrels up to .920" in diameter can be used, as well as a variety of other types, like the Ruger factory tapered barrel, thanks to three sizes of interchangeable bushings included with each kit. If set up as an SBR, barrels as short as 9" can be used and the open front handguard allows suppressors to nest inside for an incredibly small and maneuverable overall package. To further shrink its footprint, the MBS 22 Mod 1's stock is collapsible, reducing the overall length by about 2" when collapsed. The stock can be instantly redeployed by pulling back on the buttstock plate, extending it out on its two hardened steel guide rods.
Featuring a removable shell deflector, ambidextrous charging handles, and a trigger block safety, the MBS 22 can be utilized by left or right handed users out of the box. The charging handle incorporates a rock-to-lock mechanism, allowing the bolt to be held open without pressing any other buttons and then closed with a slap. Additionally, the MBS 22 Mod 1 conceals a compartment inside the grip behind the removable knuckle guard to house tools, parts, or batteries. Made in the USA from durable glass reinforced injection molded polymer and nitride treated steel, the MBS 22 is built to be used for a lifetime, which is why we confidently guarantee it with the same lifetime warranty that covers all HTA products. *Ruger 10/22 and any accessories shown not included.
US RESIDENTS: IMPORTANT! 10/22 barrels 16.0" and over are long enough to produce a legal length rifle in the MBS 22 Mod 1 in most jurisdictions. Federal laws and regulations have established that rifles must have a minimum barrel length of 16" and an overall length of 26", with the stock extended. Some states or local jurisdictions may have further regulations governing this product when assembled on a 10/22 (NY, CT, etc). This stock will add what is considered a "pistol grip" by some states, a collapsible stock, and shorten the overall length below some states' minimum requirement which may be longer than 26", or may require overall length be measured with stocks in the collapsed position (MI). By purchasing this item, the buyer is acknowledging they understand their state and local laws and intend to comply with any further infringements on their rights.
