Firing a 90 grain bullet at nearly 2000 feet per second, the FK BRNO PSD in 7.5 FK approaches intermediate rifle performance... from a handgun. This is no mean feat and taking full advantage of performance like this requires a platform to match, and that's why HTA is pleased to announce our all new LAIR 7.5 PDW Chassis. The LAIR (Lightweight, Approaching Intermediate Rifle) PDW Chassis raises the bar for PDW systems. Smaller than the H&K MP7, nearly 25% lighter than the MP5 or P90 (even with a stock or brace installed), and delivering double the muzzle energy with each round, the LAIR in concert with the PSD bridges the gap between traditional personal defense weapons and intermediate caliber rifles and carbines without sacrificing anything in terms of size and weight. Central to the LAIR chassis concept is the ability to combine other components from the broad spectrum of firearm accessories with the PSD, including optics, lights, lasers, slings, and stocks/braces. A pistol capable of delivering accurate and potent rounds out to 200 meters and beyond will certainly benefit from the addition of such accessories.
The LAIR features a 10.5" long 1913 Picatinny top rail, in addition to an extended bottom rail with three times more mounting area than the bare pistol. The LAIR's body is CNC machined from a monolithic block of aluminum, making it incredibly rigid and strong. A thumb nut secured V block engages the PSD's beavertail, securing the pistol frame solidly at the rear, while the front is held firm by a pair of rail clamps on the lower Picatinny rail of the frame. Basic field stripping for cleaning or caliber changes can be done without removing the frame from the LAIR, helping prevent POI shift. A reversible charging handle is included that also serves as a disassembly tool for the LAIR system.
Four M-Lok slots allow for the attachment of side rails, thumb stops, lights, or sling mounts. A Picatinny rail on the back face of the LAIR allows for a wide range of stocks and braces to be attached. To save weight and maintain a minimalist approach, an integrated steel QD mount is built into the rear portion of the chassis which enables a single point sling to be attached. A single point sling, in turn, can be set up as a tension based cheek rest, with the shooter pushing the LAIR away from their body while using the sling itself to get a solid cheek weld.
Looking forward, the LAIR is also designed to accept extensions which offer more Picatinny and M-Lok accessory space, and includes provision for attaching a blast can. We expect certain Cerakote colors, such as OD green and FDE, and black hard coat anodize options will be available upon release. Current projected completion date is sometime in early 2026.
